What is Birka...?

Let me introduce myself. My name is Yulia.

​

Being surrounded by creativity and art in my family since I was born has certainly influenced me in my career choice. Ever since I can remember, I wanted to engage in creative work and I’ve always had a great appreciation of art, fashion, and photography. Therefore I became a designer, after studying art and design in Israel.

​

I am a multi-disciplinary designer. As jewellery and fashion are entwined I don't limit myself to only designing jewellery. Neither have I limited myself to any particular material, style or technique. In my designs I love to employ an unusual combination of glass lampwork with metals and stones to create unique and original handmade jewellery. I use the highest quality silver, genuine gemstones, textiles, leather, enamel, pearls and my own inimitable glass beads.

I get inspiration, on a subconscious level, from everything around me - sound, music, nature, colour. I create each piece with love from concept to final touches. For me it’s essential to make my jewellery not only appealing and pleasing to the eye, but also functional and durable. It gives me pleasure to underline a woman's beauty with my jewellery. I hope that every woman will enjoy wearing it as much as I enjoy making it.
